Sentry if you want the platform. errclue if you want the error explained.

A team already sending errors with the Sentry SDK, and deciding whether it still wants the hosted platform: telemetry, replay, and Autofix. errclue keeps that SDK, groups the error, and writes one sentence about the cause. The product is a hosted beta.

Two products, two jobs

Stay on Sentry when the team wants telemetry, session replay, and Seer Autofix that can open a pull request. That is the platform.

Use errclue when the team already runs a Sentry SDK and wants the error collected, grouped, and explained in one sentence.

errclue does not open a pull request, and it does not do full APM. If the team needs either one, Sentry is the product.

What this beta does

errclue stores error and message events. Sessions, replays, and transactions are acknowledged and dropped. They do not become issues.

The diagnosis reads the exception, the frames, and the context lines the SDK sent. JavaScript frames are restored from a source map you upload. Without those lines, the diagnosis says the stack was not restored and keeps confidence low. Confidence is an integer from 0 to 100. Severity is a separate label: low, medium, or high.

errclue does not read a Git repository, does not open a pull request, and does not run your tests.

This beta accepts the envelope on a Cloudflare Worker, indexes events in D1, and keeps the raw payload in R2. There is no public install, and this page gives errclue no memory figure.

A Slack or Discord webhook posts the issue label, an optional prefix, the title, one sentence, and a link. A new issue has no prefix. The score stays on the issue page.

Keep the SDK. Change the DSN.

  1. Keep the Sentry SDK you already run.
  2. Point its DSN at errclue.
  3. Send one test exception. The issue shows the grouped stack, nearby lines when the event has them, and one sentence about the cause.

The DSN change is in the migrate notes. A minified JavaScript stack also needs a source map upload. The channel message is in the Slack and Discord guides. Sentry's install size is a different page.

Sentry alternatives and Seer Autofix

People looking for Sentry alternatives are deciding whether they still want the hosted platform. Seer Autofix is part of that platform, and it can open a pull request.

errclue is the alternative for the error itself. It keeps the Sentry SDK, groups the event, and writes one sentence. It does not open a pull request, and it does not do full APM.

When Sentry is still the right product

Stay on Sentry if you want telemetry, session replay, full APM, or Seer opening a pull request.

errclue writes a diagnosis for a person. It does not open a pull request, and it does not take the rest of the platform with it.

Who should stay on Sentry?

Teams that want telemetry, session replay, full APM, or Seer opening a pull request. errclue does not open a pull request and does not do full APM.

Does errclue open pull requests?

No. The issue page shows a summary, a confidence score from 0 to 100, and a severity of low, medium, or high. errclue does not read a Git repository and does not open a pull request.

Does errclue store session replay?

No. Sessions, replays, and transactions are acknowledged and dropped. The beta stores error and message events.

Can I keep my Sentry SDK?

Yes. Point the SDK you already run at an errclue DSN. A minified JavaScript stack needs a source map upload. Rails and Python use the lines the SDK already sent.
