Keep the Sentry SDK. Change one DSN.
You already send errors with a Sentry SDK. errclue reads that same DSN. Create an account, then copy the client key and paste it in.
Leaving a self-hosted install is a separate question. Read the Sentry self-hosted comparison.
Where to find the DSN
In Sentry, the DSN is listed on the project under Client Keys (DSN). On errclue, open the project, then Client keys, and paste that value into the SDK.
The DSN is https://<publicKey>@<host>/<projectId>. The public key is a client key on the project, under Client keys. errclue does not offer Sentry's /api/0 keys API.
A new project starts on JavaScript, so the browser snippet is included. Rails, Node, and Python use the same dsn field. Other official Sentry SDKs do too.
Rails
Replace the DSN in the sentry-ruby initializer you already have.
Sentry.init do |config|
config.dsn = "https://<publicKey>@<host>/<projectId>"
endNode.js
Keep @sentry/node. Only the dsn changes.
import * as Sentry from "@sentry/node";
Sentry.init({
dsn: "https://<publicKey>@<host>/<projectId>",
});Python
Keep sentry-sdk. Only the dsn changes.
import sentry_sdk
sentry_sdk.init(
dsn="https://<publicKey>@<host>/<projectId>",
)Browser JavaScript
A new project defaults to JavaScript. @sentry/browser takes the same dsn field as the other browser packages.
import * as Sentry from "@sentry/browser";
Sentry.init({
dsn: "https://<publicKey>@<host>/<projectId>",
});Changing the DSN does not upload a source map. A minified JavaScript stack stays minified until an artifact bundle is uploaded with an organization auth token and a build plugin. Rails and Python do not take that step. Those SDKs send the nearby lines with the event. How JavaScript stacks get their original lines.
What does not come across
Error and message events are stored. Sessions, replays, and transactions return 200 and are dropped. They never become issues. errclue does not open a pull request.
How to tell it worked
Send one test exception. The issue page shows the diagnosis: a summary, a confidence score from 0 to 100, and a severity. If the project has a Slack or Discord webhook, the channel gets the issue label, the title, one sentence, and a link. The score stays on the issue page. How a Slack webhook is posted. How a Discord webhook is posted.
Create an account, open the project, then Client keys, and paste the DSN into the SDK.
